Re-set your morning routine

We all have daily morning routines, but especially in lockdown or when we’re working from home, it can be easy to get into a bit of a rut.

Whilst there is nothing wrong with that first cup of tea or coffee to help you get going,  there are other rituals we can incorporate into our morning to make us more positive and productive.

Here are some ideas…

1/ Mindfulness or meditation

Help your journey from sleep to being fully awake, by introducing a 10 minute mindfulness or meditation routine.  This should help you have a more focused and positive approach to your morning, and beyond.

2/ “Early risers travel further”

And studies suggest that they also lead healthier lifestyles than night owls.  Either way, why not set your alarm earlier than normal, and once you’ve done your mindfulness, do some exercise.  It doesn’t have to be hardcore session, but releasing some of your endorphins will help you feel more positive and optimistic.

3/ Set your goals every day.

It can be easy to drift when you’re working from home, so set yourself a daily to do list. This could be a totally work focused list, and could also incorporate more general goals, such as positive thinking or lifestyle choices. Either way, make sure the targets are realistic, otherwise you may feel additional stress or pressure if you don’t hit them.

4/ Be thankful

Rather than taking things for granted, try to be grateful for what you have. Whether it’s your health, a new pair of trainers, or relationship, this glass half full positivity will help you approach situations as opportunities rather than problems.

It takes time to develop new routines, but hopefully these ideas will help you to get more out of your days, and to have a more positive and optimistic perspective.
