Why your son or daughter might need a graduate career/interview coach.

We all know that CV19 has badly hit the job market at all levels, taking away many career opportunities for recent graduates. Here are three main reasons why your son or daughter might need a graduate coach, and why hiring one makes sense.

1/ It’s a buyer’s market - there are too many recent graduates chasing too few roles. For example, UK-based graduate jobs website Milkround reported that only 18% of graduates secured jobs in 2020, compared to the typical 60%.

2/ Employers are looking to hire workplace-ready graduates. In this market, academic success on its own is not enough.

3/ A high proportion of graduates study non-vocational subjects, and can find it difficult to work out their best career path.

A lot of parents provide coaching support to their children as they grow up – this could be to teach them to swim or play tennis; improve their French or Maths skills; or play a musical instrument.  And as your career has developed, you’ve probably received some career coaching or mentoring.

It is not realistic to expect your son or daughter to have a sensible career path, or produce a perfect CV presentation for each application; or be prepared for all styles of interviews and tests; or know how to follow up and keep in touch with recruiters or employers etc. It is highly unlikely that they will have received adequate training and coaching in there areas at Uni.

I have extensive experience of working with people with limited work experience to help them successfully navigate every job market. Each 1-1 coaching session with me is personally tailored to each client, to ensure they maximise their opportunities. My support is there at every stage of the recruitment process, and will provide them with skills to succeed now, and throughout their career.
